Capitalized terms used but not defined in this Cookie Policy shall have the meanings assigned to them in the
TutorCloud Definitions & Glossary.

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device, remember your preferences, and provide certain functionality. Similar technologies include pixel tags, local storage, session storage, software development kits (SDKs), and web beacons — collectively referred to in this Policy as “Cookies”.

Cookies may be first-party (set by TutorCloud) or third-party (set by a service provider we use). They may be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (stored for a defined period).

We use a minimal set of Cookies, grouped into the following categories:
Category Purpose Retention
Strictly Necessary Enable core functionality such as login, session persistence, security (including CSRF and fraud protection), and load balancing. These cannot be disabled through the consent interface as the Services cannot function without them. Session or up to 12 months
Preferences Remember your preferences such as language, region, theme, and interface settings so we can personalise your experience. Up to 12 months
Analytics (privacy-preserving) Help us understand aggregated usage patterns, feature adoption, error rates, and performance so we can improve the Services. We configure analytics tools to anonymise IP addresses and to prohibit cross-site tracking and re-identification. Up to 13 months
We do not currently use marketing/advertising Cookies on the India Services for behavioural targeting or third-party ad networks. Should this change, we will update this Policy and obtain your consent before any such Cookies are set.

Some Cookies may be set by third-party providers we engage to deliver core service functions — for example, authentication (SSO providers), classroom/rostering integrations, payment processors, and communication or video-conferencing tools that you or your Institution activate. These providers process cookie data under their own privacy policies. We do not permit third parties to use Cookies set through the Services for cross-site behavioural advertising directed at our Users.

You have several options to manage Cookies:

  • Cookie consent banner — on your first visit and thereafter through the “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer, you may accept, reject, or customise non-essential Cookies.
  • Browser settings — most browsers allow you to view, delete, and block Cookies. Refer to your browser’s help documentation.
  • Device settings — mobile operating systems allow you to limit ad tracking and reset advertising identifiers.
  • Do Not Track (DNT) — we honour DNT signals for non-essential Cookies where technically feasible.

Please note: disabling Strictly Necessary Cookies will impair the functionality of the Services (e.g., you may not be able to log in).

  • For Cookies that require consent under the DPDPA (i.e., those that involve processing of personal data beyond what is strictly necessary), we present a clear and specific consent notice before setting the Cookie.
  • For Users under 18, only Strictly Necessary Cookies are set until verifiable parental consent is obtained for additional Cookies (if any).
  • You may withdraw your consent to non-essential Cookies at any time through the Cookie Preferences interface. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal.
  • In institutional contexts, the Institution may configure permitted Cookie categories on behalf of its users, in accordance with the Institution’s Data Processing Agreement with TutorCloud.
